Stephen King and The Main Connection

If you have read any of Stephen King's novels or have ever seen a movie based on one of Stephen King's Novels, You have probably noticed a connection to the northeastern state of Maine. King grew up in the town of Lisbon Falls, Maine. He attended the University of Maine where he met his wife Tabitha. When King's mother fell ill, he moved to southern Maine to to be with her.

King moved to Boulder Colorado after his mother's death. This is where he wrote his book the Shining. Shortly after the publishing of the novel, Stephen moved back home to Maine. I guess you could say King took the age old advice of "Writing what you know" and he has done very well with it.

King lives in Bangor, Main where he is known to go down to the local Barnes and Noble and pull a random book of his from the shelf and autograph it before returning it to the shelf. A majority of his books take place in the fictional town of Castle Rock, a name derived from the novel Lord of the Flies.
